Having grown up in California and having practised surfing, skating and snowboarding from a very young age, Anthony Sinyard, son of Specialized founder Mike Sinyard, wondered why cycling equipment and clothing were so boring and dull. Whereas surf brands of the 1980s (such as, for example: T&C Surf, Quiksilver and Santa Cruz) truly used vivid, dynamic colours.

After a long search for brands on the market that could fulfil his desire for gear andequipment original and colourful, Anthony came to the realisation: there weren't any! The idea then took root to create his own brand and follow in his father's footsteps in the cycling industry. Something that had been no part of his plans at all! A revolutionary brand fusing high performance and vibrant style was thus born. He named it SUPACAZ, which stands for "super casual", his nickname as a teenager.
