Tune – Recognised for its extremely lightweight bicycle components

Founded by a climbing enthusiast in 1989, the company Tune began its activity in the Black Forest (Germany). Uli Fahl, the founder, used to ride his mountain bike to the foot of climbing walls. He quickly noticed how heavy his two-wheeler was, which exhausted him too much on the approach ride. The year before the brand launched, Uli set about upgrading his bike by replacing, among other things, the steel bolts with anodised aluminium bolts. He even created kits to lighten the rear derailleur. He truly made a name for himself with his AC8 quick release, establishing it as a benchmark in terms of lightweight design. Today, cyclists from all over the world equip themselves with Tune bicycle components to achieve high-performance and aesthetically pleasing builds.

Tune – The top of the range in cycle components

The mind of Tune's founder has always been focused on hubs and wheels as he wanted to reduce the weight and mass of moving parts at all costs. For it is at this precise point that the results are most perceptible. He launched a high-tech, ultra-light hub that quickly outperformed the competition. This hub, named Décibelle, weighed less than 130 g! As its name suggests, its high pitch was easily recognisable. The German company then developed, in the 1990s, a fully ceramic bottom bracket for Jan Ulrich, who was then competing for the yellow jersey at the Tour de France. This remarkable road cycling adventure propelled the brand onto the international stage.

Tune – An ecological commitment from production to delivery

The geographical location of the company, close to the magnificent ecological diversity of the Black Forest (the spruce trees lining steep roads; the vineyard slopes; the various pastures and lakes that alternate with the high peaks) has undoubtedly influenced the way the products that have made its reputation today are produced. As a manufacturer of components for sports, Tune considers it its responsibility to preserve natural resources and act with respect for the environment. A large part of the roof of the head office in Buggingen is covered with photovoltaic panels. The chips produced during machining operations are sorted and recycled. Product packaging is very minimalist and plastic is kept to a minimum. Cardboard boxes are reused as much as possible. The brand is constantly seeking more sustainable solutions for its parcel deliveries. It also offers a wide variety of bicycle spare parts to extend the lifespan of its products.
