Tyre SCHWALBE SX-R Perf 20x1.60

Designed for BMX Race, the SCHWALBE SX-R Perf combines lightness, speed and grip to meet the demands of competition. Developed since 2022 and validated by international riders, it benefits from the Schwalbe expertise gained on high-level circuits.

Its innovative compound and smooth tread provide excellent grip at the start line and in corners, while minimising rolling resistance. Its reduced weight makes it one of the lightest BMX tyres in its category.

Available in several sizes, it is fitted with folding beads for easier fitting. The model is designed for use with an inner tube and is not Tubeless compatible.

Is this tyre suitable for riding on a wet track? The Schwalbe SX-R is primarily a speed tyre designed for dry and compact tracks. Its fine grooves disperse surface water on the tarmac sections of corners, but it will show its limits on loose or very muddy dirt tracks due to its low profile.

What pressure should I inflate this tyre to? In BMX Race, tyres are inflated to high pressures to maximise rolling efficiency. Always refer to the minimum and maximum pressure markings on the tyre sidewall (generally between 4 and 7 bar depending on the size). Under-inflation will seriously impair your speed and increase the risk of pinch flats.

Can I fit this tyre on both the front and rear? Absolutely. It is commonly used at the front to ensure steering and precise cornering lines, and at the rear to guarantee low rolling resistance when pedalling. Some riders prefer to fit a slightly wider size at the front (e.g. 20x1.75) and a narrower size at the rear (e.g. 20x1.60) to optimise the BMX's handling.
